According to statistics gathered from several leading online dating sites, a growing phenomena is surfacing with regards to U.S. troops publishing online dating profiles.

This emerging trend appears to be commonplace for men serving extensive tours of duty in battle torn areas such as Afghanistan as well as Iraq. Even though The President has scheduled an exit strategy for both conflicts, it seems like this plan just cannot come soon enough for many home sick and lonesome members of the military some of who have been cut off from romantic relationships and friendship for upwards of two years.

Spokesperson, Dave Jenkins, who is the director of the Wellness and Relationships Centre in North Adelaide exposed this increased online dating activity involving U.S. soldiers and states "right now there are still some 230,000 U.S. troops serving throughout Iraq as well as Afghanistan and our analysis tells us that 2% of these men are actively utilizing either subscription based or free dating sites which in turn amounts to about 4600 troops."

Mister. Jenkins has recently been following this particular trend within the past three years and has reported a 110% upward trend on these statistics. In 2008, there was clearly an estimated 0.8% of U.S. troops utilizing singles online dating from within combat countries, which has more than doubled based on the most up to date figures.

Single troopers who had served overseas for longer than nine months on tours of duty were the most likely to search on the internet to reach out to modern society given that their lifestyles had grown to be so cut off. U.S. troops have first-rate access to the net and often make use of other interactive internet models such as Skype chat, and of course Face Book.

Weighing in on this study, Phil Taylor, a matchmaking advisor from the popular U.S. online dating site, Today's Dating has advised "I confirm and verify approximately three hundred dating profiles daily onto our site and there's a substantial amount of singles dating profiles coming through each and every day from U.S. members of the military in search of friends and romantic relationships, and to be honest I can't help feel for them due to the fact their options to connect to real life can only come through means of their computers."

Further research coming out of the Wellness and Relationships Centre in North Adelaide shows that separation and divorce levels are undoubtedly increasing in connection with U.S soldiers serving in foreign countries. Conflict within Afghanistan and Iraq is undoubtedly taking its toll on the spirits and morale involving particularly long serving members of the military and low morale is especially compounded at X-mas and Thanks Giving season activities.

When ever these men are finally released from their assignments, the psychological scars are destined to continue having an influence on their psychological well-being. For numerous U.S. soldiers serving in wars, even after the war areas have been departed, many will probably face turmoil and difficulties hoping to build and preserve new and existing romances, why? Merely because authorities tell us it can take some individuals several years to fit back into mainstream culture soon after suffering the day in day out death and devastation war brings.
